Web Standards and Accessibility Statement

Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict Valid CSS 2.1

The Lindum Homes website conforms to W3C standards for XHTML 1.0 CSS 2.0 and Section 508 Accessibility

Why are Web Standards and Accessibility important?

There is a growing and concerted effort to develop world wide standards that reduce the cost and complexity of development while increasing the accessibility and long-term viability of any site published on the Web.

BrandFour Ltd the developers of the Lindum Homes website follows all new developments closely and has aligned the practices of the business with the emerging standards. This means all client projects benefit from websites designed and developed to the latest technological standards giving them another competitive edge when communicating with customers and potential customers.

Using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

The W3C invented Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in 1996 to increase the presentational sophistication and the accessibility of websites, and to eliminate the browser-specific markup that threatened to fragment the emerging web.

In 1997, some browsers began to support parts of CSS-1, but the standard did not become truly usable until 2001.

Today, with standards-compliant browsers dominating the market, there is every reason to use CSS to remove invalid markup from websites, separate style from content, lighten the bandwidth of web pages, and increase the odds that people and devices will actually be able to access the sites we create.

CSS also helps in optimising websites for search engines enabling browsers to locate information quicker therefore saving time and effort.
